Most Breville home espresso machines — including the Bambino, Bambino Plus, Barista Express, Barista Express Impress, Barista Pro, Barista Touch, Barista Touch Impress, and Oracle models — use a 54mm portafilter. You'll need a 54mm tamper to fit these machines correctly. The Breville Dual Boiler uses a 58mm portafilter and requires a 58mm tamper. Milk jug size depends on the drinks you're making. For a single flat white or latte (approximately 150–180ml of milk), a 350ml stainless steel jug gives you the right amount of space to texture milk properly without over-aerating. For larger drinks or if you're making two coffees at once, a 600ml jug is more appropriate. Using a jug that's too large for your pour means the milk sits too low in the jug for good steam wand positioning — making microfoam harder to achieve. Genuine Breville cleaning tablets are specifically formulated for Breville machines and are the safest choice for maintaining your warranty and protecting internal components. Using third-party tablets is possible but carries some risk — lower-quality tablets may leave residue, not fully dissolve, or contain chemicals that can damage seals and internal parts over time.
