Designed for aspiring baristas, hospitality employees and coffee enthusiasts, this program focuses on building real workplace skills using commercial espresso equipment in a professional café environment.

How the Course Works

Our program is delivered through a blended learning model.

Before attending your 5 hour practical session at Di Pacci Coffee Company, you will complete online learning and knowledge assessments. These activities contribute to the required training hours and provide the essential theory needed before you enter the practical environment.

You will complete your practical training and assessment at Di Pacci Coffee Company, working alongside experienced coffee professionals in a state of the art barista academy and specialty coffee roasting facility. 

What You'll Do

During your practical session you will:

  • Prepare and serve a minimum of 30 espresso coffee beverages using a range of commercial equipment from the best brands.
  • Learn professional espresso extraction and milk texturing techniques.
  • Complete espresso bar opening and closing procedures.
  • Demonstrate safe food handling and hygienic work practices.
  • Develop efficient café workflow and customer service skills.
  • Build confidence working in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
  • Guided tour of The Roasting Club production roasting facilities and brief coffee tasting. 

This practical approach ensures you graduate with experience that reflects real industry expectations.

Assessment

Competency is assessed through a combination of:

  • Online knowledge assessments completed before your practical session.
  • Practical workplace assessment conducted by qualified trainers and assessors during your face-to-face training.

Students must successfully complete all assessment requirements to be deemed competent.

Qualification

Students who successfully demonstrate competency in all assessment requirements will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for:

  • SITHFAB025 – Prepare and serve espresso coffee
  • SITXFSA005 – Use hygienic practices for food safety
