Getting the best out of your moka pot: Use a medium-fine grind — finer than filter but coarser than espresso. Fill the lower chamber with cold water up to (but not above) the safety valve. Fill the filter basket level without pressing or tamping down the grounds. Use low to medium heat — brewing too fast produces harsh, bitter coffee. Remove from heat as soon as you hear the familiar gurgling sound. Never leave a moka pot on high heat or it will burn the brew.
