Niche Zero Black — Single Dose Conical Burr Grinder

The Niche Zero is the grinder that redefined what a home espresso grinder should be. When Niche launched it in 2019 — originally crowdfunded in just four days — it introduced something the prosumer market had never seen at its price point: 63mm hardened steel conical burrs (the same specification as the commercial Mazzer Kony), a straight-through grind path with virtually zero retention, and a stepless dial offering infinite grind adjustment from espresso to filter, all in a compact, beautifully designed aluminium body with real oak trim.

The result is a grinder that wastes nothing, retains almost no coffee between doses, grinds quietly at 72dB, and produces a consistently uniform particle size that makes dialling in espresso genuinely easy — and stays dialled in. The Niche Zero Black is the same machine in a matte black finish, designed for kitchens and brew bars where the white version doesn't fit the aesthetic. Available at Di Pacci with Australia-wide shipping, expert advice, and in-house service support.

Key Features

What Makes the Niche Zero the Benchmark Single-Dose Home Grinder

⚙️ 63mm Conical Burrs

Same specification as the commercial Mazzer Kony. Rated for 600–800kg — roughly 30–40 years at home use.

🎯 Virtually Zero Retention

Straight-through grind path retains less than 0.1g between doses. Every gram in, every gram out.

♾️ Infinite Stepless Dial

Continuous adjustment from fine espresso to coarse filter. No clicks, no detents — dial in precisely.

🤫 72dB — Quiet Operation

DC motor geared to ~330 RPM. Low noise, low heat — preserves aromatics in every bean.

🫙 Single Dose Workflow

No hopper — grind exactly what you need. Beans stay fresh in an airtight container between doses.

🌰 NFC Flow Control Disk

Included disk prevents bean popcorning — ensures consistent feed rate into the burrs every time.

🔧 Easy Burr Maintenance

Screwdriver included. Burrs remove in minutes. Alignment is factory-set and self-correcting on reassembly.

🍵 Espresso & Filter

One turn of the dial switches from espresso to filter. No recalibration, no tools, no hassle.

🎨 Matte Black — Aluminium & Oak

Anodised aluminium body with real oak trim. Dosing cup machined to fit 58mm portafilters directly.

Is the Niche Zero Right for You?

Who Should Buy the Niche Zero

✓ The Niche Zero is right for you if:

  • You want a single grinder for both espresso and filter brewing
  • You brew 1–4 coffees per day at home and value freshness per dose
  • You want commercial-grade 63mm burrs without a commercial price tag
  • Quiet operation matters — 72dB is one of the quietest at this price
  • You use a 58mm portafilter — the dosing cup is machined for direct transfer
  • You want a grinder that pairs with machines from Rancilio, ECM, Lelit, Profitec, La Marzocco
  • You want a long-term investment — burrs last 30+ years at home use

✗ Consider alternatives if:

  • You primarily brew filter and want the absolute best coarse grind uniformity — a dedicated filter grinder like the Fellow Ode may edge it out at coarser settings
  • You want a hopper-based workflow for grinding multiple coffees quickly — the Niche is a single-dose grinder by design
  • Budget is tight — the Niche Zero is premium priced; the Turin DF54 V3 offers strong value at a lower price point
  • You need a commercial-volume grinder — the Niche is a home grinder with a ~50g maximum per dose
Frequently Asked Questions

Niche Zero — Common Questions

Three things: burr quality, retention, and workflow. The 63mm hardened steel conical burrs are the same specification as those used in the commercial Mazzer Kony — a burr set you wouldn't normally find at this price point. The straight-through grind path retains less than 0.1g between doses, meaning no stale coffee contaminating your next cup. And the single-dose workflow means you always grind fresh beans from an airtight container rather than a hopper — the best possible starting point for any espresso or filter brew.
Yes — the Niche Zero's infinite stepless dial adjusts continuously from espresso fine to filter coarse with a simple turn. No tools, no recalibration required. The 63mm conical burrs perform well across the full range. For dedicated espresso use the Niche Zero is exceptional. For filter it performs very well — though dedicated large-burr filter grinders like the Fellow Ode Gen 2 may produce slightly more uniform coarse particles for very demanding filter brewing.
The Niche Zero Black and Niche Zero White are identical in every performance specification — same burrs, same motor, same retention, same grind quality, same dimensions and weight. The only difference is the anodised aluminium body colour. Black has a matte black finish; White has a matte white finish. Both feature real oak wood trim. The choice is purely aesthetic — choose whichever better suits your kitchen or brew bar setup.
The Niche Zero's 58mm dosing cup is designed for direct transfer into a standard 58mm portafilter — the café standard used by Rancilio, ECM, Profitec, Lelit, La Marzocco, and most other prosumer machines. It is the natural grinder pairing for the Rancilio Silvia V6, ECM Classika PID, Profitec Pro 400, Lelit Bianca V3, and La Marzocco Linea Mini — all of which are available at Di Pacci. Call (02) 9758 0760 for bundle advice.
The 63mm hardened steel conical burrs are rated for approximately 600–800kg of coffee before meaningful wear. At 20g per dose and one dose per day, that is approximately 30–40 years of daily home use. Most home users will never need to replace their burrs. When replacement is eventually needed, replacement burrs are available — and the Niche Zero's tool-free burr access makes the swap straightforward.
