Di Pacci — Hands-On Coffee Class for Breville & Lelit Owners

Breville & Lelit Owners Class

A two-hour, hands-on class for people who already own a Breville or Lelit machine and suspect it can do better than it currently does.

The Breville and Lelit Owners Class is a 2-hour practical session at Di Pacci's Sydney training academy, built around the machine already sitting on your bench. For $49.95 per person, you spend the time with a Di Pacci coffee trainer working through the things that actually decide whether a shot is good: how to dial in a grinder, how to dose, distribute and tamp consistently, how to read an extraction that has come out sour or bitter, and how to texture milk that pours instead of bubbling. It runs on the last Friday of every month, 11am to 1pm.

This is not a barista qualification and it is not a career course — that is what Di Pacci's accredited barista training is for. It is a shorter, cheaper session aimed squarely at home owners who bought a good machine, followed the manual, and still can't work out why the coffee at the café tastes different. You bring the questions and the problems you have been having. You leave able to fix them on Saturday morning.

Key Features of the Owners Class

🎯 Dial In Your Grinder Properly

Grind size is the single largest variable in a home setup and the one most owners never touch after installation. You learn how to adjust it, what to change when the shot runs too fast, and how to get back to a repeatable starting point.

🔧 Fix Sour and Bitter Shots

Sour and bitter are opposite problems with opposite fixes, and guessing wrong makes it worse. You learn to taste the difference and work out which variable caused it.

🥛 Milk That Pours, Not Bubbles

Texturing on a domestic steam wand is a different technique to a commercial one. You get hands-on time on the wand until the microfoam is right rather than watching someone else do it.

🧽 Cleaning That Keeps It Alive

Most home machines that come into the Di Pacci service department are there because of neglected cleaning routines. You leave knowing what to do daily, weekly and monthly — and why.

Owners Class or Barista Training?

These are the two classes people mix up before booking, and they are built for different reasons. The Owners Class is about your machine at home. The Barista Training Group Class is about working behind commercial equipment.

Di Pacci recommendation: If the machine is already on your bench and the problem is that the coffee isn't as good as it should be, the Owners Class is the right $50. Don't bother with it if you're chasing a job in hospitality or a nationally recognised qualification — you'd be paying for the wrong class, and the $99 Group Class or the accredited SITHFAB025 course is what you actually want.

Who This Class Is For

✓ Ideal if you:
  • Own a Breville or Lelit espresso machine and want more out of it
  • Have never adjusted your grinder and aren't sure where to start
  • Can pull a drinkable shot but can't repeat it two days running
  • Keep producing milk with big bubbles instead of glossy microfoam
  • Can get to Roselands on a Friday morning once a month
  • Want to ask a trainer about your exact setup rather than read another forum thread

Breville & Lelit Owners Class — Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the Breville and Lelit Owners Class for?

Anyone who owns a Breville or Lelit espresso machine at home. It suits people who unboxed the machine last month and people who have been using one for years without ever touching the grinder settings. The session is built around practical fixes rather than theory, so you don't need any prior training to keep up.

Do I need to bring my own coffee machine?

{{CONFIRM — recommended answer: "No. The class is run on machines at the Di Pacci Barista Academy, so you turn up with nothing but your questions." Add here whether people can bring their own beans or portafilter.}}

When and where is the class held?

The class runs on the last Friday of every month, from 11am to 1pm, at the Di Pacci Coffee Company Barista Academy — 97–99 Chapel Street, Roselands NSW 2196. There is free on-site parking, and the training room is part of the Sydney showroom and roastery. Call (02) 9758 0760 if you need to check the next available date.

How is this different from Di Pacci's $99 barista training?

The Owners Class is a 2-hour session about domestic Breville and Lelit machines and costs $49.95. The Barista Training Group Class runs 150 to 180 minutes on commercial café equipment, costs $99, and is aimed at people heading into hospitality work. If your goal is better coffee at home, book this one; if your goal is a job behind a café machine, book that one.

I've owned my machine for years — is there anything in it for me?

Usually yes, because long-time owners tend to have settled into one habit that quietly caps how good the coffee can get. The most common ones are a grinder that has never been readjusted for a different bean, inconsistent tamping pressure, and a steam technique that makes foam rather than microfoam. Two hours with a trainer watching what you actually do is the fastest way to find it.

What happens if I can't make the date I booked?

{{CONFIRM — state the transfer and refund policy, for example: "Let us know at least 48 hours beforehand and we will move you to the following month's class."}} Call (02) 9758 0760 or email support@dipacci.com.au as soon as you know, because places are capped and someone else may be waiting on one.

Why Book the Owners Class with Di Pacci

Di Pacci Coffee Company has been in coffee since 2003 and is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 45805), with a dedicated barista academy inside the Sydney showroom and roastery at Roselands. The same team sells, services and repairs Breville and Lelit machines in-house with parts in stock, so the advice in the class comes from people who see what actually goes wrong with these machines every week. Five showrooms nationally — Sydney/Roselands, Melbourne, Perth, Port Macquarie and Queensland — with in-store demonstrations and expert pairing advice on grinders and accessories.
