Di Pacci — 3-Group Heat-Exchanger Commercial Espresso Machine

Carimali Glow 3 Group Coffee Machine

The Carimali Glow 3 Group is the machine for a busy cafe that wants three groups and a bench presence to match, without paying flagship-brand money for either.

The Glow is Carimali's design-led traditional machine, and the three-group version is built for high-traffic bars. Underneath the full metal body is a 14 litre insulated steam boiler feeding three heat-exchanger groups with thermosyphon circulation, a 200 L/h rotary pump, and digital temperature control set from an alphanumeric display. Each group has five illuminated volumetric buttons with electronic pre-infusion adjustable per button, and an electronic washing cycle handles the daily backflush.

Where the Glow separates itself from the Nimble beneath it is the build and the barista-facing details: cold-touch steam wands that stay safe to grab mid-rush, wood-finished side panels, portafilter handles and wand grips, twin analogue gauges for pump and boiler pressure, a mirror-polished splash plate and an electric cup warmer. The rear panel carries the LA CARIMALI mark in full, which matters for island bars where customers see the back of the machine more than the front. It ships in black or white and connects to mains water.

Key Features of the Glow 3 Group

🔥 14 litre insulated boiler

Sized for three groups steaming continuously, and insulated so it holds pressure through a rush and draws less power sitting idle between services.

🧤 Cold-touch steam wands

The wands stay cool enough to reposition by hand mid-texture, which removes the most common burn on a busy bar and lets newer staff work faster with less hesitation.

⏱️ Pre-infusion set per button

Give your single a short soak and your double a longer one, so each dose extracts evenly rather than one compromise setting for the whole group.

🌡️ Digital temperature control

Boiler temperature is set on the display to the degree, so when you change beans you adjust the machine in seconds instead of guessing off a pressurestat.

📊 Twin analogue gauges

Pump and boiler pressure are read side by side on the right of the machine, so a barista can spot a channelling shot or sagging steam at a glance.

🔁 Electronic washing cycle

Load the blind basket, start the cycle and the machine runs the backflush sequence itself, so close-down cleaning actually happens on the nights it would otherwise be skipped.

Why a Third Group and a 14 L Boiler Change the Rush

Adding a group to a heat-exchanger machine only helps if the boiler behind it can keep up. Three groups pulling through the peak, plus two wands steaming, drain heat from the boiler far faster than two, and an undersized boiler shows up as flat milk and slow recovery exactly when you can least afford it. The Glow 3 Group is built around that load rather than stretched to it.

  • The 14 litre boiler holds enough thermal mass that steam pressure stays up while two baristas texture back to back and a third group is pulling.
  • Insulation keeps that heat in the boiler instead of in the panels, so the element cycles less and recovery between shots is quicker.
  • Thermosyphon circulation keeps the idle third group at brewing temperature, so the first shot from it in ten minutes lands at the same temperature as the busy groups.

The practical result is a bar that can run two or three baristas at full pace without the machine dictating the rhythm. If your two-group is regularly stacked with orders and the milk is going out thinner at 8:30 than it did at 7:30, this is the machine that fixes both problems at once.

Glow 2 Group vs Glow 3 Group

Same body, same electronics, same groups. The two-group is the right machine for most cafes; the three-group is for the ones where the second barista is already waiting on a group head.

Feature Glow 2 Group Glow 3 Group
Groups 2 3
Steam boiler 11 L, insulated 14 L, insulated
Width 767 mm 1000 mm
Net weight 60 kg 90 kg
Power 3150 W 4150 W
Suited to Small to mid-size cafes, one to two baristas High-traffic cafes, two to three baristas at once

Di Pacci recommendation: Buy the 3 Group if you regularly have two people on the machine and a third would be useful, or if you're fitting out an island bar where the width and the branded rear panel are part of the look. Don't bother if you run one barista most of the day or serve fewer than about 150 to 200 coffees — the Glow 2 Group makes identical coffee, saves 233 mm of bench and is far simpler to power. The third group only pays back when it's actually pulling shots.

What to Run Alongside the Glow 3 Group

A three-group bar is only as fast as its grinders and only as reliable as its water. Both deserve the same attention as the machine.

Product Type Why it pairs well
Carimali X010 OD On-demand commercial grinder Same brand and same Di Pacci service team; grinds fresh to each dose and keeps pace with two groups working continuously.
Second on-demand grinder Commercial grinder for decaf or a second blend Three groups almost always means two coffees on the bar; a dedicated grinder keeps the third group productive instead of waiting on a dose swap.
Water filtration system Commercial inline filter A 14 litre plumbed boiler on untreated water scales quickly; proper filtration protects the boiler and the warranty, and qualifies you for free local installation.

Who This Machine Is For

✓ Ideal if you:
  • Run two or more baristas through a defined peak and want a third group free for singles and decaf
  • Serve upwards of roughly 150 to 200 coffees a day and steam pressure on your current machine sags in the rush
  • Want the machine to be part of the fit-out — wood accents, mirror splash plate and full branding on the rear panel
  • Prefer digital temperature and per-button pre-infusion over a pressurestat and a single fixed soak
  • Value cold-touch wands because you train casual or junior staff
  • Have, or are installing, plumbed water and drainage plus a dedicated electrical circuit
✗ Consider alternatives if you:
  • Run one barista most of the day — the Glow 2 Group in the Carimali range is the better buy
  • Have a bench narrower than 1000 mm or one not rated for a 90 kg machine plus grinders
  • Can only offer a standard 10 or 15 amp point and can't get an electrician in — 4150 W needs a dedicated circuit
  • Want independent PID coffee boilers per group for light-roast specialty work — look at the multi-boiler machines in the commercial range

Carimali Glow 3 Group — Frequently Asked Questions

What power point does the Carimali Glow 3 Group need?

The Glow 3 Group draws 4150 W, which is more than a standard 15 amp outlet can supply, so it needs a dedicated high-current circuit, typically 20 amp or three-phase, installed by a licensed electrician. This is normal for any three-group machine. Call (02) 9758 0760 with a photo of your switchboard and we'll tell you exactly what's involved before you order.

Does the Glow 3 Group need to be plumbed in?

Yes. It's a mains-water machine with no tank, so it needs a plumbed supply and a drain, fed through a commercial water filter. A 14 litre heat-exchanger boiler on untreated water will scale within months. Di Pacci installs the machine and filtration together, free in Sydney metro areas.

How many coffees a day can the Glow 3 Group handle?

Comfortably 300 or more a day with two or three baristas working the rush. It's worth considering from about 150 to 200 a day if your two-group is already the bottleneck. Below that, the third group sits idle and the Glow 2 Group gives you identical coffee for less money and a simpler power connection.

What is the difference between the Carimali Glow and the Nimble?

Both use a heat-exchanger boiler with thermosyphon groups and five-button volumetric dosing, so the espresso is comparable. The Glow adds digital temperature control, pre-infusion adjustable per button, an electronic washing cycle, cold-touch wands, twin pressure gauges, a cup warmer, boiler insulation and the full metal and wood body. The Nimble tops out at two groups; the Glow is the only Carimali traditional available with three.

Is the Glow 3 Group easy for new staff to use?

It's one of the more forgiving three-group machines to hand to casuals. Doses are programmed into the buttons once, pre-infusion covers an uneven tamp, and the cold-touch wands take the burn risk out of steaming. Di Pacci offers in-store barista training and can walk your team through the display at installation.

Does the Glow 3 Group have PID temperature control?

It has digital temperature control of the single steam boiler, set from the display, with heat exchangers and thermosyphon circulation feeding each group. That's more precise than a pressurestat machine and stable for standard espresso and milk service. It is not independent PID per group; if you want to run a different temperature on each group for light roasts, a multi-boiler machine is the right tool and we can recommend one.

Who services the Carimali Glow 3 Group in Australia?

Di Pacci's in-house technicians service and repair every machine we sell, with Carimali parts held in stock, so there's no third-party agent between you and a fix. The Glow 3 Group carries a 12 month parts and labour warranty through Di Pacci, and we can arrange scheduled preventative maintenance for cafes that can't afford downtime.

How much bench space does the Glow 3 Group take up?

The machine is 1000 mm wide, 552 mm deep and 450 mm high, and weighs 90 kg, so the bench needs to be rated for that load plus grinders, with depth behind for the water inlet, drain and power lead. The wide-set legs give clearance underneath for cable management. Send us your bench measurements and we'll confirm the fit before you order.
