On most grinders, grind adjustment is made by turning a collar that directly moves the burrs. The problem is that collar settings can slip over time, and making very small precise adjustments is difficult because there's no mechanical advantage. The ECM's worm gear gives you a mechanical ratio — one full turn of the small worm gear shaft produces only one notch of collar movement. This makes micro-adjustments easy and intuitive. It also locks the setting in place: the worm gear can turn the collar, but force from the collar (such as from grinding vibration) cannot turn the worm gear back. No lock screw is needed, and your setting never slips.
The ECM S-Automatik 64 is designed as a natural companion to ECM's prosumer espresso machine range. The LED display's silver styling specifically matches the PID controllers on ECM machines such as the Technika V Profi PID, Synchronika, and Mechanika series. The grinder's 64mm flat burrs and 450W motor are well-matched to the extraction capability of these machines — it won't be the bottleneck in your setup. All three grinders use 64mm flat stainless burrs and stepless adjustment, and are considered the benchmark for prosumer on-demand espresso grinders at their price tier. The key differentiators: the ECM uses a worm gear for adjustment (more precise and slip-proof) versus the collar twist on the Mazzer and Ceado. The ECM's O-ring chamber seal is notably better than the Mazzer at preventing grounds fouling the adjustment threads. The ECM adjusts shot timers electronically in 0.1 second increments; the Ceado uses a screw. The ECM profile is the shortest of the three at ~41cm. Customer Error Returns:
We are able to return the product for a refund if the packaging remains intact and the item has not been unboxed. Kindly notify us within 14 days of the date of delivery. If your item is unused and unboxed, we can issue a refund, minus a restocking & handling fee of 30% of the invoiced value, provided that we are notified within 14 days of the delivery date. The product must be returned at store or shipped by customer at their own cost. The refund or credit will be processed after the item has been returned and inspected to ensure that it is in re sellable condition. The product needs to be returned safely by the customer.
