Recommended Brew Parameters

Starting points for each brew method. The beans are supplied whole, so he'll need a grinder — adjust from here to taste.

  • Espresso: 18–20g dose in a double basket, 36–40g in the cup, 26–32 seconds, water at 92–94°C
  • Plunger / French press: 60g per litre, coarse grind, 4 minutes steeping, water just off the boil
  • Moka pot: fine-ish grind, basket filled level and not tamped, medium heat, off the stove as soon as it gurgles
  • Filter / pour over: 60g per litre, medium grind, 2:30–3:30 total brew time

Should I choose 250g or 500g?

Choose 250g for one or two coffees a day, and 500g for a heavier drinker or a household where more than one person makes coffee. In practical terms, 250g is roughly 12 to 14 double espressos or about four litres of plunger coffee, and 500g is 25 to 28 doubles or about eight litres. Bigger isn't automatically better here — beans are at their best within a few weeks of opening, so 500g only makes sense if he'll get through it in that time.

Are the beans whole or pre-ground?

Whole bean. Coffee loses most of its aroma within minutes of grinding, so the bag ships whole to protect the freshness you're paying for — which does mean he needs a grinder. If pre-ground would genuinely be more useful, call (02) 9758 0760 before ordering rather than assuming.

Can I get more than one blend?

How should the beans be stored?

Keep the bag sealed in a cool, dark cupboard, and once it's open, move the beans to an airtight container away from heat, light and moisture. Use them within 2–4 weeks of opening for the best flavour. Don't store coffee in the freezer or fridge — condensation does more damage than the cold prevents.

Customer Error Returns:
We are able to return the product for a refund if the packaging remains intact and the item has not been unboxed. Kindly notify us within 14 days of the date of delivery. If your item is unused and unboxed, we can issue a refund, minus a restocking & handling fee of 30% of the invoiced value, provided that we are notified within 14 days of the delivery date.
