Di Pacci — Two-Tap Undercounter Batch Brew Dispensing System

Six Simple Machines Freepour Batch Double Tap — Ex Demo

The Six Simple Machines Freepour Batch Double puts two batch brews on tap at the counter, so filter customers pour their own and never join the espresso queue.

The Freepour Batch Double is a two-tap undercounter dispensing system, designed and built in Botany, NSW. You brew hot or cold batch coffee with whatever equipment you already own, load it into insulated airpots below the bench, and it dispenses through hands-free infrared sensors at the tap. The dispenser drops into a 380 × 195mm bench cut-out, the control unit runs off a single 10 amp power point, and the whole thing needs nothing more exotic than access to a drain.

This unit is ex demo in as-new condition, used for a few months and never sold. It's the digital screen configuration, so each tap carries a reversible screen you can load with stills and video rather than printed cards, and it comes with two Zojirushi 2.5L gravity pots already matched to the connector. RRP is over $12,000; this one is $8,000 plus GST. Mechanically it's the same machine Six Simple Machines ships new — same sensors, same magnetic connector, same front-or-rear loading. There is one of it.

Key Features of the Freepour Batch Double

👋 Hands-Free Sensors

Hold a cup under the tap and it pours. Nothing to touch, nothing for a queue of customers to break, and staff can set a maximum pour volume at the control unit.

☕ Two Beverages at Once

Run a hot filter on one tap and a cold brew on the other, or two origins side by side, and change what's on either tap as often as you change your mind.

🧲 Magnetic Airpot Connector

Airpots connect as you push them into place and pull straight out again, so a changeover mid-service takes seconds rather than a two-handed fumble under the bench.

🔄 Front or Rear Loading

A reversible guide in the airpot frame lets you load from either side, so the unit works customer-facing for self-service or staff-facing behind the bar — and can be flipped later.

📺 Reversible Digital Screens

Screens face the customer no matter which way the taps point, and play showreels of stills and video you upload from a phone or desktop. Files live on the unit, so the display keeps running if the internet drops.

🧽 Built to Be Cleaned

Lines usually need only a water flush with an occasional chemical clean, and the taps, drip tray and sensors all come apart for the mess that self-service inevitably creates.

Why Batch on Tap Changes the Queue

The problem Freepour Batch solves isn't flavour, it's throughput. A café that only makes coffee to order has one queue, and every filter customer in it is waiting behind espresso orders that take a barista's hands and attention. Some of them wait. Some of them leave.

  • You brew a batch the way you already do — filter machine, cold brew tower, whatever's on the bench — and decant it into an insulated airpot.
  • The airpot pushes into the frame under the counter and connects magnetically, with no tools and no lines to prime.
  • The customer holds a cup under the tap and the sensor pours to the volume you've set, while your barista keeps working the group head.

The result is a second service lane that costs no extra labour. Batch also uses less coffee per cup than espresso and can carry a premium price for a single origin, so the margin per serve tends to be better than the espresso it diverts. For a venue already brewing batch into a pump pot on the counter, the change is smaller but still real: pouring becomes something the customer does, not something that interrupts your staff.

This Ex-Demo Unit vs Buying New

Six Simple Machines builds Freepour Batch in single, double, four and six-tap configurations, and sells new units direct on enquiry. Here's how this one compares with ordering the same machine new.

Feature This ex-demo unit Ordered new
Price $8,000 plus GST RRP over $12,000
Condition As new — a few months of demonstration use Unused
Warranty {{WARRANTY_TERM}}, serviced in-house by Di Pacci Full manufacturer term
Configuration Fixed — two taps, digital screens, Zojirushi bung, standard spacing Your choice of taps, spacing, bung type and screen option
Availability One unit, here now Built to order, on lead time

Di Pacci recommendation: Buy this one if the configuration suits your site as it stands — two taps, screens, Zojirushi pots, standard spacing — because you're getting a machine that's been used for a few months at a third off, with the airpots thrown in. Don't bother if you need four or six taps, wide tap spacing, or a different bung type to match airpots you already own: none of that can be changed after the fact, and paying full price for the right configuration beats a discount on the wrong one. If you're not ready to cut into your counter at all, a benchtop batch brewer with a pump pot does the same job for the coffee, just without the self-service.

What to Run Alongside It

Freepour Batch dispenses; it doesn't brew. These are the pieces that sit around it in a working setup.

Item Type Why it pairs well
Otfes Brewer Batch and pour over brewer Brews straight into an airpot, which is exactly what Freepour Batch wants loaded underneath it
Commercial espresso machine Espresso The pairing is the point — filter customers self-serve while the group head stays free for milk drinks
Commercial packages Machine, grinder and accessories Sensible starting point if the Freepour is going into a fitout rather than an existing bar

Who This Is For

✓ Ideal if you:
  • Lose filter customers to the espresso queue at peak
  • Already brew batch and decant it into pump pots on the counter
  • Want hot filter and cold brew available at the same time
  • Run a self-service or grab-and-go counter, or a corporate floor
  • Can cut a 380 × 195mm hole in the bench and reach a drain below it
  • Want commercial equipment at an ex-demo price and don't need it boxed and unused
✗ Consider alternatives if you:
  • Can't modify the counter — this drops through a 380 × 195mm cut-out and isn't a benchtop unit
  • Have no drain access under the bench, which the dispenser needs via flexible hose
  • Are buying for a home kitchen — this is undercounter commercial equipment with a commercial install
  • Need four or six taps, wide spacing, or a non-Zojirushi bung — this unit's configuration is fixed
  • Want a machine that brews as well as dispenses, in which case a benchtop batch brewer is the product you're after

Freepour Batch Double — Frequently Asked Questions

What does "ex demo" mean for this Freepour Batch Double?

It was used for demonstration for a few months and never sold, and it's in as-new condition. It isn't a customer return and it hasn't been repaired. RRP on this configuration is over $12,000 and this unit is $8,000 plus GST. If you'd like the cosmetic condition described in detail before you commit, call us on (02) 9758 0760 and we'll walk you through it honestly.

What warranty comes with an ex-demo Freepour Batch?

Ex-demo and pre-owned equipment at Di Pacci carries a shorter term than a new machine, and the exact term for this unit is stated in the specifications above. Our in-house service team handles the work either way, so a warranty claim doesn't go to a third party. Call us if you want the terms in writing before ordering.

Does the Freepour Batch Double need a special power point?

No. The control unit runs from a single 10 amp GPO, drawing around 1 amp at 230 to 240 volts. There's no dedicated circuit, no electrician and no three-phase involved. It uses less power than most things on a café bench, because it dispenses beverages that are already brewed rather than heating anything itself.

Does it need plumbing?

It needs a drain but no water supply. The dispenser connects to a drain through a flexible PVC hose to clear the drip tray, so you need drain access under the counter. Beverages come from airpots you load by hand, so there's no incoming water line to connect.

What size cut-out does my bench need?

380mm wide by 195mm deep for the Double. The dispenser lowers through that hole from above and the airpot frame bolts to it from underneath. Six Simple Machines recommends siting it 150 to 200mm in from the counter edge, and leaving at least 50mm clear around the undercounter components plus a clear path to slide airpots in.

Which airpots does it work with?

This unit is fitted with the Zojirushi bung connector and comes with two Zojirushi 2.5 litre gravity pots, so it works out of the box. At a 250ml serve that's roughly ten cups per pot before a swap, which is fine for a steady counter but tight for a peak rush — the system supports pots up to 7.5 litres, and a spare pot per tap is the usual fix. Airpots with a different bung type won't connect without different connector components.

Can customers serve themselves, and can they pay at the machine?

Self-service is exactly what it's built for — it can be installed customer-facing, and the hands-free sensor with a staff-set maximum pour is what makes that safe to leave unattended. The digital screens help here too, since you can run graphics that walk customers through choosing and pouring. Payment is a separate question: Six Simple Machines offers a self-pay option that talks to a Square Terminal, and it isn't fitted to every unit, so call us on (02) 9758 0760 to confirm before you plan a checkout-free counter around it.

How much cleaning does it need?

Less than you'd expect. Depending on what you're dispensing, the lines usually need a water flush with an occasional chemical clean. The taps, drip tray and sensors are designed to come apart for cleaning, which matters more than it sounds when the public is operating the machine.
