Di Pacci — 120 mm Flat Burr Bulk & Retail Coffee Grinder

Compak R120 Coffee Grinder

The Compak R120 is a bulk grinder for roasters, delis and cafes that grind coffee by the bag, from Turkish fine to French press coarse.

The Compak R120 pairs 120 mm flat burrs with a 1000 W motor turning at 1400 rpm and a 2.2 kg hopper. Compak rates it at about 1.5 kg of filter grind per minute, so a customer's bag of beans is ground while they pay.

It isn't an espresso dosing grinder; it grinds straight into a bag on the bag-holder and shaker extension. A precision front dial with micrometric adjustment covers everything from Turkish to French press, a double ventilation system keeps the motor and burrs cool, and an automatic sweeper clears the exit chute between bags. The body is cast aluminium.

Key Features of the Compak R120

⚙️ 120 mm flat burrs

Large burrs grind a full bag quickly with an even particle size, so the customer isn't left waiting.

🎚️ Turkish to French press

The micrometric front dial covers every brew method a retail customer is likely to ask for.

🌬️ Double ventilation

Two cooling paths keep heat down when you grind bag after bag.

🛍️ Bag shaker extension

The bag sits on the shaker as it fills, settling the grounds so the bag closes neatly.

🧹 Automatic chute sweeper

The exit chute is swept between bags, which cuts cross-contamination between coffees.

🏗️ Cast aluminium body

A heavy cast body keeps the grinder stable and quiet on the counter.

Why Bulk Grinders Use Big Flat Burrs

A retail grinder has a different job from an espresso grinder: it needs to turn hundreds of grams into an even grind fast, across a wide range of sizes.

  • Larger burrs have more cutting surface, so the R120 moves beans through quickly without labouring the motor.
  • Flat burrs produce a tight particle spread, which matters most for filter and plunger grinds.
  • Ventilation and a slower 1400 rpm motor limit heat build-up across back-to-back bags.

The payoff is a consistent bag of grounds in well under a minute, and a grinder that copes with a Saturday-morning retail queue.

Compak R120 vs an Espresso Grinder

Cafes that sell beans often ask whether one grinder can do both jobs. The R120 and an on-demand espresso grinder such as the Mazzer Major VP are built for different work.

Feature Compak R120 Mazzer Major VP
Job Grinding bags of coffee Single espresso doses on demand
Burrs 120 mm flat 83 mm flat
Motor 1000 W, 1400 rpm 650 W, 900 rpm
Hopper 2.2 kg 1.6 kg
Dispensing Into a bag Into a portafilter

Di Pacci recommendation: Choose the R120 if you sell ground coffee by the bag or grind large batches for filter. Don't bother with it as your espresso grinder; pair it with an on-demand grinder such as the Mazzer Major VP for the bar.
